Texas Longhorns Dominate Tarleton State 16-2 in NCAA Regional Showdown
The Texas Longhorns showcased their power at the plate, hitting five home runs as they overwhelmed Tarleton State 16-2 in the Austin Regional of the NCAA Baseball Tournament. This impressive victory comes on the heels of a significant 19-1 win against Holy Cross, marking a staggering total of 35 runs scored against their opponents in the regional so far.
The game turned decisively in Texas's favor during a remarkable five-run second inning, highlighted by back-to-back-to-back home runs from Aidan Robbins, Carson Tinney, and Anthony Pack Jr. The latter, recognized as the SEC Freshman of the Year, notched his fourth home run of the regional, further emphasizing his exceptional performance after hitting three homers against Holy Cross—a first for any Longhorn in postseason history.
On the mound, Texas pitcher Dylan Volantis delivered a strong performance, pitching six and two-thirds innings while allowing only one run and three hits, along with striking out seven batters. His efforts were crucial in securing the team's place in the regional final.
The Longhorns are set to face UC Santa Barbara at 11 a.m. CT at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. The winner will advance to meet Texas again on Sunday evening at 5 p.m. CT. A victory for Texas on Sunday would propel them into the Super Regional, while a loss would lead to a decisive winner-takes-all game on Monday.
