Tilda Trygger is the perfect addition for Washington Huskies WBB

The Washington Huskies were looking for some help in the frontcourt through the transfer portal, and found it in former North Carolina State standout Tilda Trygger.

During her two years with the Wolfpack, the 6-foot-6 product of Stockholm, Sweden, proved to be a weapon whenever she was on the floor, averaging 10.6 points, 7 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game during her sophomore season, while shooting 33.9 percent from three-point range, which could help her stretch the floor in what could be a lethal offense for coach Tina Langley.

Ranked as the No. 11 overall player in the portal by ESPN, Trygger should slot in nicely as a secondary scoring option behind All-Big Ten First Team guard Sayvia Sellers and All-Big Ten honorable mention guard Avery Howell. She'll also take a lot of pressure off of All-Big Ten Freshman Team honoree Brynn McGaughy in the frontcourt.

McGaughy had some help down low from Michigan transfer Yulia Grabovskaia, who averaged 4.6 rebounds per game during her one year on Montlake, while Howell thrived on the boards, pulling down a team-high 8.3 rebounds per contest. Now, with Trygger in the mix, she'll also be able to draw opposing centers out of the paint on the offensive end, thanks to her three-point shooting, to make rebounding easier for the Huskies in several different ways.

As the Huskies made a late push for local five-star forward Oliviyah Edwards, Trygger's commitment was a sign that Langley's coaching staff was a bit behind in the. If Washington the Huskies were somehow able to also add "Big Oh" to the mix over some of her other suitors, which initially included Florida, LSU, South Carolina, and USC, Langley would have had an abundance of riches down low.

However, Edwards committed to coach Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks on Thursday, so Trygger, who has two years of eligibility remaining, should wind up as a stalwart member of Washington's frontcourt as the Huskies look to host an NCAA Regional in 2027 after earning their first win in the Big Dance since 2017.
