Vikings Hire Seahawks Executive Trent Kirchner as Assistant GM

EAGAN, MN - In a significant move for the Minnesota Vikings, newly appointed General Manager Nolan Teasley has added a familiar face from the Seattle Seahawks front office. The Vikings officially welcomed Teasley on June 2, 2026, during a press conference at the TCO Performance Center, where he was introduced by team ownership.

As part of Teasley’s transition from Seattle, NFL insider Tom Pelissero revealed on Friday that Trent Kirchner, who has served as Vice President of Player Personnel for the Seahawks, will be joining the Vikings as one of Teasley’s assistant general managers. Kirchner’s appointment is expected to be announced in the coming days, along with fellow assistant Andrew Healy.

Kirchner has been with the Seahawks since 2010, steadily climbing the ranks from Assistant Director of Pro Personnel to his most recent role as Vice President of Player Personnel. His experience has made him an attractive candidate, having previously drawn interest from teams like the Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts for GM positions in the past decade.

This move marks Kirchner's return to Minnesota, where he played quarterback at Saint John’s University, and signifies his continued ascent in the NFL. As the Seahawks celebrate their recent Super Bowl success, Kirchner’s departure paves the way for potential restructuring within their front office. Best wishes to him as he embarks on this new chapter back home.
