Washington Huskies' 2027 Football Prospect Narrows Choices to Three Schools

The Washington Huskies have secured commitments from four highly-rated wide receivers in the upcoming 2027 recruiting class, but their pursuit may not be over. On Thursday, four-star wide receiver Osani Gayles announced that he has canceled his upcoming official visits to both Notre Dame and Tennessee, eliminating them from his list of potential schools. As it stands, only Alabama, Stanford, and Washington remain in contention for his commitment, which he is expected to announce on June 27.

Standing at 5 feet 11 inches and weighing 185 pounds, Gayles is currently regarded as the 34th overall prospect and the 7th wide receiver for the 2027 class according to 247Sports. He recently made an official visit to Seattle on June 5, marking his second trip to the city in a few months, having previously visited during UW's Junior Day weekend in early March.

Despite having fellow recruits Braylon Pope, Tre Moore, Zerek Sidney, and Dontay Tyson already committed, Gayles is still considered a formidable candidate who could immediately challenge for a starting role in head coach Jedd Fisch's offensive scheme. Evaluator Andrew Ivins from 247Sports praised Gayles, describing him as a "gifted inside receiver" with the skills to enhance any passing game. He noted Gayles' ability to manipulate defenders, execute precise routes, and maintain strong play in contested situations.

If Gayles ultimately decides to join the Huskies, he would represent the ninth high-profile commitment for position coach Kevin Cummings over the last three recruiting cycles.
