Washington Huskies Ranked 24th in ESPN's Future Power Rankings

Since taking the helm of the Washington Huskies in January 2024, Jedd Fisch has been focused on revitalizing a roster that was left in disarray following Kalen DeBoer's exit for Alabama after UW's national championship game defeat to Michigan. With impressive recruiting efforts that brought in two top-tier classes in 2025 and 2026, Fisch has successfully restored Washington's competitiveness in the Big Ten.

After finishing the previous season with a 9-4 record, including a victory in the LA Bowl, the Huskies are poised for further growth. ESPN's Adam Rittenberg has placed Washington at No. 24 in his assessment of Power Four programs, highlighting their promising roster, particularly under the leadership of quarterback Demond Williams Jr.

Rittenberg noted, "The fallout from Demond Williams Jr.'s brief January transfer portal flirtation will be worth watching. Washington has built the offense around Williams, who passed for 3,065 yards and 25 touchdowns on 69.5 percent completions in his first full year as the starter." He emphasized the importance of Williams regaining trust as he guides the offense through the coming seasons.

Fisch's coaching staff has also worked diligently to enhance the team's depth along both lines, addressing a significant shortcoming since joining the conference in 2024. Rittenberg pointed out that junior Elinneus Davis is the only returning contributor on the defensive line, while new transfers like DeSean Watts from Sacramento State and Darin Conley from Ball State are expected to make an impact. Additionally, senior defensive ends Jacob Lane and Isaiah Ward will bolster the defensive unit, along with Ohio State transfer Logan George.

On the offensive line front, Rittenberg remarked on the unit's progress in 2025, noting that tackle Drew Azzopardi, guards Geirean Hatchett and John Mills, and center Landen Hatchett will return, with Mills being the only player with eligibility beyond 2026. The challenge will be to fill the left tackle position vacated by Carver Willis, with Sam Houston State transfer Kolt Dieterich and highly-rated recruit Kodi Greene competing for the spot.

As Washington continues to strengthen its program, the Huskies have secured the 17th spot in the nation for the 2027 recruiting class, according to 247Sports, indicating a bright future ahead.
