49ers Edge Rusher Clelin Ferrell Recognized Among Top Unsigned Players Under 30
As the San Francisco 49ers prepare for the 2026 season, they might find valuable options among players they released earlier this year. According to Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox, Clelin Ferrell, a former edge rusher for the 49ers, has been highlighted as the fifth-best unsigned free agent under 30 years old.
Drafted fourth overall in 2019, Ferrell has not completely fulfilled expectations but had a productive stint with San Francisco, recording four sacks in just eight games last season. Now at 29 years old, he could be a compelling candidate for a multi-year contract.
A return to the 49ers would be a logical choice for Ferrell, especially given his recent contributions. Nevertheless, he could also attract interest from other teams seeking edge-rushing talent.
The 49ers currently face a challenge in their edge rusher depth, as key players like Nick Bosa, Mykell Williams, and Keion White are all in recovery from injuries. Presently, only Sam Okuayinonu, new free-agent signing Cameron Sample, and 2026 third-round draft choice Romello Height are available at the position.
If the 49ers are satisfied with Ferrell's performance and can negotiate a favorable deal, bringing him back could be a smart move for the team.
