49ers Eye Maxx Crosby in Bold Trade Proposal

Following the significant trade between the Los Angeles Rams and Myles Garrett, the San Francisco 49ers may need to respond by enhancing their own roster. In light of this, Bleacher Report's Alex Kay has put forth an intriguing hypothetical trade that could see Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby donning a 49ers jersey.

The proposed arrangement would involve the 49ers sending a first-round pick in 2027, a second-round pick in 2027, and a third-round pick in 2028 to the Raiders in exchange for Crosby. With the 49ers on the cusp of another Super Bowl run, adding a player of Crosby's caliber could be a strategic move as they aim to reclaim dominance in the NFC West and secure a Lombardi Trophy under head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Interestingly, this would not be Crosby’s first trade this year. He was previously set to move to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round selections, but the deal fell apart after the Ravens raised concerns over his medical history linked to knee surgery from January. Consequently, the Ravens opted to sign Trey Hendrickson instead.

Crosby, who will turn 29 in August, is currently under a three-year, $106.5 million contract that guarantees $91.5 million, lasting until the end of the 2029 season, although the last two years are not guaranteed. Fortunately for the 49ers, their salary cap situation is robust, boasting an impressive $72 million in available space.

On the field, Crosby’s performance speaks volumes; he has achieved 69.5 sacks over 110 games, including impressive double-digit sack seasons in 2022 (12.5) and 2023 (14.5). With Crosby teaming up with Nick Bosa and Mykell Williams, the 49ers would form a formidable pass-rushing trio capable of competing with the strengths built by the Rams in their division.
