Argentine Coaches Dominate World Cup Coaching Ranks
As Ecuador produces a remarkable array of top-tier football talent, their national team is guided by a coach with deep Argentine roots. Sebastián Beccacece, the head coach of La Tri, is among six Argentine coaches participating in the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
Beccacece is joined by a lineup of distinguished coaches, including Mauricio Pochettino of the United States, Marcelo Bielsa from Uruguay, Néstor Lorenzo of Colombia, Gustavo Alfaro representing Paraguay, and Argentina's own Lionel Scaloni. Notably, five of these six coaches hail from Santa Fe, Argentina, with Lorenzo being the only exception.
Santa Fe's prominence in the football world rivals that of Gipuzkoa in Spain's Basque Country, which has produced notable figures like Mikel Arteta of Arsenal, Andoni Iraola of Liverpool, and Chelsea's Xabi Alonso. As the tournament approaches, it is evident that South American talent is abundant, and they often find themselves under the guidance of Argentine coaches.
