Astros Welcome Back Yainer Diaz and Hunter Brown from Injured Reserve
HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Astros have announced the return of catcher Yainer Diaz from the injured list, placing him in the lineup for their matchup against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday evening. Diaz had been sidelined for over two months due to an oblique strain sustained during batting practice.
In addition to Diaz, the Astros have also reinstated right-handed pitcher Hunter Brown. To make room for the returning players, the team designated righty Jayden Murray for assignment and optioned catcher Collin Price to Triple-A Sugar Land. Brown had been on the injured list since April due to a shoulder strain, following a successful season last year where he achieved 12 wins and maintained a 2.43 ERA.
Jayden Murray, 29, struggled this season, posting a 7.43 ERA across eight appearances. Meanwhile, Collin Price, 26, had managed only two hits in twelve at-bats this year.
This move comes as the Astros aim to strengthen their roster for the final stretch of the season.
