Barcelona's Marc Casado Poised for Summer Exit Ahead of Pre-Season
As FC Barcelona gears up for the 2026/27 season, set to commence training on July 13, midfielder Marc Casado is likely to be absent from the squad's return. Reports from SPORT indicate that the club is keen to clarify his future before pre-season activities begin, suggesting a departure is imminent.
With several key players engaged in World Cup duties, the initial group returning for medical checks will be limited. Among those expected to report back first are Wojciech Szczesny, Alejandro Balde, Gerard Martin, Marc Bernal, and Casado. However, the latter's situation appears to be accelerating towards an exit from the club.
Casado has reportedly recognized the challenges of securing regular playing time at Barcelona, leading him to contemplate a new opportunity. Having been part of the club since his teenage years, this decision has not been taken lightly, but it seems both player and organization may be ready for a change this summer.
In recent weeks, a transfer to AS Monaco has emerged as a prominent option for the midfielder. There are claims of an agreement in place between Casado and the Ligue 1 club. Nevertheless, his agent, Jorge Mendes, has temporarily halted the move while exploring the possibility of integrating Casado into a deal related to Barcelona's interest in Joao Cancelo from Al-Hilal, which could see him heading to Saudi Arabia instead.
Despite the complexities surrounding his transfer, one fact remains clear: Marc Casado is set to leave Barcelona this summer.
