Braves Edge Blue Jays 4-3 Behind Olson's Homer and Elder's Strong Outing

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves triumphed over the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3 on Tuesday night, thanks to Matt Olson's pivotal home run and a solid performance by pitcher Bryce Elder. Olson's towering shot, his 17th of the season, broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning, just clearing the right-field barrier.

Elder (5-3) rebounded impressively from his previous outing, which saw him give up nine hits and six runs in just over three innings during a loss to the Red Sox. Against the Blue Jays, he pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out five.

Toronto's Kazuma Okamoto contributed significantly with a two-run homer, but Braves' starter Kevin Gausman (4-4) ultimately took the loss despite a commendable performance, striking out eight while giving up five hits and four runs across six innings.

Atlanta got off to a fast start, scoring twice in the first inning. Ronald Acuña Jr. walked and later scored on a double by Michael Harris Jr., who then advanced to third on a groundout and was driven in by Ozzie Albies' sacrifice fly. Albies added another run with a single in the third, giving the Braves a brief 3-2 lead.

The game saw the Blue Jays tie it twice, once with Okamoto's homer and again when Daulton Varsho's sacrifice fly leveled the score in the sixth. Robert Suarez secured the final out of the seventh and added a scoreless eighth, while Raisel Iglesias earned his 11th save of the season, overcoming a couple of singles in the ninth.

Looking ahead, the Braves are set to feature right-handed pitcher Grant Holmes (3-2, 3.95 ERA) in the next game against Blue Jays lefty Patrick Corbin (2-1, 3.65) as they continue their three-game series.
