Brooks Koepka Struggles with Mysterious Injury at RBC Canadian Open
Brooks Koepka faced an unexpected challenge during his round at the 2026 RBC Canadian Open, grappling with an undiagnosed issue that affected his performance. The five-time major champion, who is preparing to return to Shinnecock Hills next week for the U.S. Open, received treatment on his left arm and elbow throughout Saturday's play.
"I don't know what it is," Koepka remarked following his round. "I'm struggling to grip the club with my ring finger and pinkie finger, so can't grip it. So the club is kind of just, my fingers would come loose, it was kind of numb. I don't know what the deal was but hopefully we'll figure it out."
Initially, Koepka had a strong start with a score of 64, putting him just two shots off the lead. However, a disappointing 72 in the third round caused him to drop 25 spots on the leaderboard, finishing at 6 under and tied for 32nd place. He noted that the discomfort impacted his swing during warm-up and particularly at the start of his round.
Despite feeling fine in the morning, Koepka struggled with his grip at the range, prompting his trainer to accompany him and provide assistance, including treatment at the 11th tee. "Felt better the last few holes," he stated. "I don't know if that's just the meds kicked in or what it is. But hopefully we'll figure it out now."
As he heads into the third major of the year at a venue where he previously triumphed, Koepka's injury is an unexpected hurdle he did not anticipate facing while competing in Canada.
