Farmington Triumphs Over Stillwater to Capture Boys Lacrosse State Championship
Farmington clinched the boys lacrosse state title on Saturday evening, edging out Stillwater with a close score of 10-9 during the championship match held at White Bear Lake High School. The Tigers got off to a strong start, with Brooks Furney finding the net first, giving his team a 1-0 lead with 8:39 left in the opening quarter.
However, Stillwater quickly responded, with Brady Schneider and Keiran Jones scoring to help the Ponies take a 2-1 advantage, ultimately finishing the first quarter ahead 3-2. The second quarter was a high-scoring affair, and Stillwater managed to pull ahead, going into halftime with a 7-5 lead.
After the break, scoring became scarce. In the third quarter, only two goals were added to the scoreboard—one from Farmington’s AJ Vinar and another from Stillwater’s Robert Appert IV. Unfortunately for the Ponies, that goal marked the end of their scoring for the game.
The final quarter saw a resurgence from the Tigers. Farmington tied the game at 8-8 thanks to goals from Vinar and Furney, and Will Harris then netted the decisive goal with 9:35 remaining, securing the championship for the Tigers.
This victory marks a significant achievement for Farmington as they claimed their first state title in boys lacrosse.
