Bryson DeChambeau Leverages AI to Tackle Swing Troubles

Every golfer has experienced the frustration of an inconsistent swing, often leading to a search for solutions that can range from professional coaching to extensive analysis of practice footage. This challenge is not just limited to weekend players. Bryson DeChambeau, the captain of Crushers GC, recently shared how he utilized Google’s AI assistant, Gemini, to address issues with his swing during LIV Golf Korea.

DeChambeau started to notice his swing mechanics faltering toward the end of his opening round, feeling that his hands were moving ahead of his body, complicating his ability to execute a smooth club turn. “The beginning of the first round I felt great. Golf swing felt in sync and then it started getting out of sync,” he recounted. He elaborated, “[My] hands just felt like they were moving forward like this and I couldn’t get the club to turn over.”

Despite spending hours on the driving range after Saturday’s third round, he could not resolve the problem. “I didn’t actually figure it out on the range,” DeChambeau admitted, prompting him to consult Gemini for assistance.

Engaging with the AI, he explored various physics concepts that could influence his swing, including alpha and gamma torque. Ultimately, he discovered that grip pressure and tension were significant factors affecting his performance. “I came out here today with just a little bit more freer hands, and I felt the club a lot better, and I felt like I could close the club a lot more effectively and then I started striping it,” he shared, expressing optimism about his progress.

As the 2026 U.S. Open approaches at Shinnecock Hills, it will be fascinating to see if DeChambeau can sustain this positive trajectory, especially following a disappointing missed cut at the 2026 PGA Championship.
