Cowboys Bolster Wide Receiver Corps with Local Prospect Jaden Smith
The Dallas Cowboys are actively enhancing their wide receiver lineup as they head toward training camp, having recently signed Jaden Smith, according to a report by Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Notably, this Jaden Smith is not associated with the well-known actor and musician Will Smith.
Smith, who hails from Kennedale, Texas, initially joined the NFL as an undrafted free agent after completing his college career at Nevada, where he had an impressive senior season with 62 receptions for 849 yards and seven touchdowns, earning him an honorable mention in the All-Mountain West Conference.
After a minicamp tryout, Smith signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the spring of 2025. Unfortunately, he sustained an injury late in the summer, which sidelined him for his entire rookie season as he was placed on injured reserve. Following his release from Tampa Bay in April, he now joins the Cowboys.
In addition to Smith, the Cowboys recently added another young wide receiver, Romello Brinson from SMU, bringing their total to 13 wide receivers on the roster. This move reflects the team’s commitment to strengthening their receiving options for the upcoming season.
With Smith's notable college performance, the Cowboys hope to see him make a significant impact in their offense this year.
