DK Metcalf Falls Out of NFL's Top Five Highest-Paid WRs After Falcons' Deal
In a significant shakeup in the NFL salary rankings, DK Metcalf, who secured a landmark extension with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025, has slipped from the top five highest-paid wide receivers. This change comes on the heels of a lucrative contract signed by the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday.
The Falcons extended the contract of 2022 first-round draft pick Drake London, agreeing to a four-year deal valued at $141 million. With an impressive average annual salary of $35.25 million, London now ranks third among wide receivers, pushing Metcalf's previous standing of $33 million down to sixth place.
Following this latest extension, the current hierarchy of the league's top-paid wide receivers is as follows: Jaxson Smith-Njigba leads with $42.15 million (Seattle Seahawks), followed by Ja'Marr Chase at $40.25 million (Cincinnati Bengals), Drake London at $35.25 million (Atlanta Falcons), Justin Jefferson at $35 million (Minnesota Vikings), and CeeDee Lamb at $34 million (Dallas Cowboys).
Metcalf, who was traded to the Steelers in March 2025, made a strong impact during his inaugural season in Pittsburgh, amassing 850 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 59 receptions. In addition to London's extension, the Steelers also secured edge rusher Nick Herbig with a four-year contract worth $100 million.
