EATON RAPIDS 7, GROSSE ILE 2 - The Eaton Rapids girls soccer team showcased an impressive performance in the Division 3 regional semifinal, defeating Grosse Ile with a commanding scoreline. Both Kennedie Crow and Remie Ellis shone brightly, each netting three goals, while Chloe Look contributed the final goal for the Greyhounds. Addy Schultz was instrumental in the attack, providing two assists during the match.
In addition to Schultz's assists, Delaney Collins and Crow also contributed with assists, further solidifying the team's offensive strategy. With this victory, Eaton Rapids, boasting a record of 14 wins, 7 losses, and 1 draw, is set to compete against the highly ranked Detroit Country Day in the regional final, scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, at Ann Arbor Huron.
Meanwhile, Mason secured their place in the regional finals by defeating Farmington Hills Mercy 2-0 in a Division 2 semifinal, marking their first win in this stage of the MHSAA tournament over the past five seasons. Mason will face the sixth-ranked New Boston Huron in their upcoming match.
Ovid-Elsie also made headlines by advancing to the regional final after a 3-0 victory over Shelby. This marks their second appearance in the regional final in three years, and they are set to take on Harbor Springs on Thursday at Cadillac.
In other matches, the pursuit of a third consecutive regional title for Bloomfield Hills Marian came to a halt as they defeated DeWitt, ranked fifth, with a score of 2-0.
