Eau Claire Memorial Baseball Team Stuns D.C. Everest in Regional Semifinals
The 11th-seeded Eau Claire Memorial baseball team achieved a remarkable victory on Tuesday, defeating the sixth-seeded D.C. Everest with a score of 12-8 in the regional semifinals. This win sets the stage for a challenging matchup against the third-seeded Stevens Point later this week.
The Old Abe offense was impressive, racking up a total of 13 hits, with five players contributing multiple hits. Aaron Gundlach was a standout performer, going 3-for-4 at the plate and driving in three runs. Both Ryan Reesman and Ben Strayer added two hits each, with Strayer also hitting a double and driving in two runs.
Additionally, Ian Bauer and Mason McCarthy each crossed home plate three times for Memorial, with Bauer hitting a triple and McCarthy contributing two RBIs. On the mound, pitcher Ethan Palecek delivered a solid performance, throwing five innings and allowing only three runs on six hits while striking out five batters.
