Fans Capture Moments with FIFA World Cup 2026 Trophy at Boston College
Soccer enthusiasts are enjoying an exceptional opportunity this weekend as the FIFA World Cup 2026 trophy is showcased at Boston College. "I was getting butterflies in my stomach as I was driving here," expressed fan Colton Simon. "It was the coolest thing ever."
On Saturday, attendees gathered outside the Margot Connell Recreation Center, eagerly awaiting their chance to snap a photo with the coveted trophy. This iconic piece of silverware is part of the FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola, which includes 75 stops across 30 FIFA Member Associations.
Lisa Perri, another fan in line, remarked, "I think it’s a great opportunity." The trophy was unveiled on Friday by Governor Maura Healey, who was joined by World Cup Champion Fernando Llorente. "In Massachusetts, we have some of the best soccer fans in the world; I promise you they’re crazy, they’re so excited for all of this," said Governor Healey. The state is set to host seven matches at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, which is being temporarily referred to as Boston Stadium.
For Jude Jr. Dorvil, a former Haitian national team player, the event holds personal significance. "It was a dream for me to play at the World Cup, but I didn’t make it. Now I’m going as a fan and pretty excited," he shared.
Whether fans will attend matches or not, the chance to see the trophy is a rare moment for many. "It means a lot, sure does," noted soccer fan Marcello Mastroianni. The trophy will be available for viewing until 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
