Flyers' Daniel Vladar Eyes $25 Million Contract Extension

The Philadelphia Flyers are making strides to solidify their goaltending position with Daniel Vladar. Recent reports indicate that the team is in discussions regarding a potential contract extension that may keep the 28-year-old goalie in Philadelphia for the next five years.

ESPN's Kevin Weekes first broke the news, stating that the extension could be valued at around $5 million per year. He tweeted, “Per sources, I’m told G Vladar and the @NHLFlyers are working towards closing in on a 5 Yr Contract Extension that’s likely to land in the mid 5M AAV range.”

Adding to this information, Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic provided further insights, noting that while progress is being made, the deal cannot be finalized until July 1 due to Vladar still being under contract for another year. He mentioned, “Still a bit of work to be done on the extension, but once done it can't be officially signed and announced until July 1 because Vladar has another year on his deal.”

Vladar, who joined the Flyers after stints with the Boston Bruins and Calgary Flames, had a solid first season in Philadelphia. In the 2025-26 season, he recorded a 29-14-7 record, boasting a 90.6 save percentage and a goals-against average of 2.42. His improved statistics suggest that he could offer the Flyers much-needed stability in goal.

With ongoing discussions about his contract, it appears likely that Vladar will continue to play a key role for the Flyers in the coming years.
