Former wrestling coach Bob Guzzo passes away at 82
NC State lost an icon on Sunday with the passing of long-time wrestling coach Bob Guzzo. Guzzo spent 30 years running the Wolfpack program, coaching multiple individual national champions in that time while leading the team to 13 ACC championships.
He was inducted into the Wolfpack sports Hall of Fame just last month—bit of an oversight that wasn’t done sooner—and thankfully was well enough to enjoy that day.
Guzzo stayed involved in the Wolfpack community after his retirement, and was good friends with Chuck Amato, who is from the same town in Pennsylvania. Best wishes to all of his family and friends during this time. Rest in peace, coach.
