LA28 Olympics Announces Timeline for Second Ticket Draw

The organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games has released the schedule for its upcoming "Drop 2" ticket draw, which will allow the public to access a new wave of tickets for the events happening from July 14 to July 30, 2028. The announcement was made on June 10, following an initial ticket sale for Southern California residents in early April.

Individuals who have registered for the LA28 Olympic Ticket Draw will automatically be part of the overall ticket pool. Additionally, Visa cardholders can gain an advantage by securing an early purchasing time slot. However, those who obtain a cardholder slot will not be eligible for the subsequent Drop 2 time slot.

The ticketing process is set to unfold throughout the summer, starting with the opt-in deadline for cardholders on July 22 at tickets.LA28.org. Cardholders who qualify will receive a notification on July 27 detailing their assigned time slot for purchasing. For those who either do not hold a Visa card or did not receive a time slot, purchase dates for the standard draw will be communicated on August 6 or 7, with the buying window expected to run from August 10 to August 20.

Details regarding the specific number of tickets and the events available for this draw have yet to be disclosed. The first ticket drop did not include all available tickets, leading to concerns about pricing from interested buyers. During the initial access period, select tickets were available for as low as $28 for residents of both Los Angeles and Oklahoma City, which will also host softball and canoe slalom events.

Allison Katz-Mayfield, the Senior Vice President of Games Delivery Revenue for LA2028, addressed these pricing concerns with FOX LA, emphasizing the diversity of price points. “We were so excited by the demand we saw during the locals’ presale,” she noted, highlighting the rapid sales of the affordable tickets. Katz-Mayfield hinted that more tickets priced under $100 could be released later this year.
