Liberty Triumphs Over Dream 104-90 Behind Stellar Performances from Stewart and Sabally

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. (AP) — The New York Liberty secured their sixth consecutive victory on Thursday night, defeating the Atlanta Dream 104-90, thanks to strong contributions from Breanna Stewart and Satou Sabally. Stewart recorded a double-double with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists, while Sabally matched her scoring output and excelled with five three-pointers.

Shooting was a key factor in the Liberty's success, as they hit 16 of their 31 attempts from beyond the arc, a performance highlighted by Sabally's pivotal fifth three-pointer that expanded their lead to 91-73 midway through the final period. Jonquel Jones also played a crucial role, contributing 16 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, marking a historic night for the franchise with five players scoring at least 16 points.

Marine Johannes added 17 points, surpassing Cappie Pondexter's record for the sixth-most three-pointers made in Liberty history. Pauline Astier rounded out the scoring with 16 points, including a remarkable halfcourt shot just before halftime that put New York ahead 51-44.

On the other side, Angel Reese led the Dream with 25 points and nine rebounds, while Rhyne Howard scored 24 points and set a new WNBA milestone as the youngest player to reach 400 career three-pointers in only 147 games. Allisha Gray also contributed 18 points, but the Dream struggled with their shooting, finishing 31% from three-point range and 56% from the free-throw line.

The Liberty are set to return home to face the Washington Mystics on Sunday, while the Dream will travel to Toronto for their next matchup.
