It's May and OTAs are underway, which means we're about halfway through the NFL offseason.

Many New England Patriots fans have the date June 1 circled on their calendars, as that's when the Philadelphia Eagles will likely try to trade star wide receiver A.J. Brown.

If the trade rumors are to be believed, there's a high chance Brown will get dealt to the Patriots, perhaps as soon as June 1. However, NFL insider Ian Rapoport isn't convinced there's already a done deal between the two sides that will happen as soon as the calendar flips to June.

“I would say we do not know the draft compensation. To me, this is not the Patriots and Eagles have a secret deal they’re going to unveil on June 1. It’s not like that," Rapoport said on "Between the Tackles" this week. "I don’t even know if one is going to get done June 1. To my understanding, it's the Eagles wanting a 2027 first-round pick... The Patriots would like to pay less... I just don't know that they're there yet."

While New England and Philadelphia may still have some negotiating to do, Rapoport said he'd be surprised if the trade falls through at this point.

"I think I'd be surprised if it didn't happen, but I do not believe that they're there yet, and I don't think either side has spoken about it in some time with each other," Rapoport added.

June 1 is less than two weeks away, so both teams still have time to figure out the framework and finalize a deal. However, time will tell if they're able to reach an agreement by then.
