The separation of third baseman Alec Bohm and the Philadelphia Phillies feels inevitable.
Bohm's name has been linked to trade rumors for the past few seasons, and he's off to a not-so-good start at the plate. In 29 games, he's hitting .151/.218/.208 with just one home run and an 18 OPS+.
That means that in the batter's box, Bohm has performed 82 percent worse than the average replacement-level player. The Phillies' season has started poorly, but they could still consider making an upgrade at the hot corner if they find themselves back in the postseason race.
FanSided's Christopher Kline believes there may be a suitable trade between the Phillies and the Houston Astros, who have an infield logjam.
"He keeps strikeouts to a minimum, but [Isaac] Paredes is an extreme pull hitter with limited power. Too often, he's cranking lifeless pop-ups to left field or dribbling grounders to shortstop," Kline wrote Wednesday. "That said, his profile plays well in certain ballparks — Philadelphia stands out as a team with a need at third base — and Paredes is a two-time All-Star at 28, with another year on his contract. Teams will register interest."

Paredes would give the Phillies a little more power at third. The 27-year-old hit 20 home runs in 2025 and set a career high with 31 in 2023 with the Tampa Bay Rays.
With the Astros trending in the wrong direction, they'll likely be trading away pieces at the deadline. That firesale will probably include Paredes.
Meanwhile, the Phillies would have their third baseman for 2027. Bohm reaches free agency at season's end.
