Rain washes out IndyCar qualifying at Indianapolis road course
Heavy rain and standing water brought IndyCar qualifying to a halt at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
The afternoon was met with rain that began during the first race of the doubleheader weekend for Indy NXT, which was won by Enzo Fittipaldi.

However, the persistent downpour left enough standing water around the 2.439-mile, 14-turn road course for race officials to call off the session and reschedule it for 10:45am ET on Saturday morning in place of the morning warm-up.
Drivers in the first group, such as Andretti Global’s Marcus Ericsson, AJ Foyt Racing’s Santino Ferrucci, and Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden, among others, were in their respective cars and waiting to go out for roughly 25 minutes as officials and sweepers patrolled the track. Officials made the call to abandon the attempt to get Friday qualifying in just past 6pm ET.
Coverage for the rescheduled qualifying will begin at 10:30am ET on Fox Sports 2 before moving to Fox Sports 1 at 11:30am.
Four-time and reigning IndyCar champion Alex Palou, who has also won the last three consecutive years at the IMS road course, led both practice sessions on Friday.
