Sean Strickland Removed from UFC Fan Fest, Faces Possible Disorderly Conduct Charge
UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland might soon find himself facing a misdemeanor charge for disorderly conduct after he managed to sneak into the UFC Fan Fest at the White House on Sunday. Despite claiming he was prohibited from attending the iconic event, Strickland traveled to Washington D.C., where he was met by enthusiastic fans during a pre-fight press conference on Friday.
Strickland attempted to gain entry to the fan fest occurring at the Ellipse near the White House, but his efforts did not go as planned. Although he successfully entered the venue and even hopped into a WWE ring set up for the event, security quickly intervened and escorted him out.
While Strickland was not arrested, he mentioned on Instagram that he might face a disorderly conduct charge, which in Washington D.C. is classified as a Class B misdemeanor, potentially resulting in up to 90 days in jail and a fine of up to $500. “I may have been charged with disorderly conduct. I don’t know what that is but it sounds cool,” he stated. He expressed gratitude to his fans, noting their support meant a lot to him despite his ban from the event.
In another Instagram post, Strickland shared an image of himself being escorted away by multiple security personnel. He apologized to his fans, saying, “Sorry you guys. We almost made it! Promise one day, we will set up a circle and box. Thanks for your support.”
Strickland made headlines after asserting that he was banned from the UFC White House card due to his vocal criticisms of President Donald Trump, his close ties with Israel, and issues surrounding the war in Iran. UFC CEO Dana White later dismissed these assertions, clarifying that no one, including Strickland, was officially banned from attending, but due to limited seating, he simply was not on the guest list.
