Softball: Lady Lions walk off in 10th against Hauser
Host Rushville scored one run in the bottom of the sixth inning and one run in the bottom of the seventh inning to force extra innings against Hauser Tuesday. Three innings later, Rushville’s Penelope Davis singled to score Makenna Ripberger with the walk-off 7-6 victory against the Lady Jets.
Rushville scored a run in the bottom of the first inning on a Charli Marcum ground out to score Davis. Hauser scored two runs in the fourth inning and one run in the fifth inning to lead 3-1.
In the bottom of the sixth, Macy Blevins singled to score Ella Bowles and cut the deficit to 3-2. Rushville tied the game one inning later when Davis stole home.
In the top of the ninth inning, Hauser scored three runs to lead 6-3.
Rushville was not done. Marcum doubled to score Davis and Althea Tellas to cut the deficit to 6-5. Bowles followed with a double to score Marcum and send the game to the 10th inning and set up Davis for the game-winning hit.
Davis and Blevins both finished with four singles and one RBI. Marcum had a single, double and three RBIs. Payton Moore added two singles. Bowles had a double and RBI. Ripberger, Kiara Flannery, Becca Tabeling and Tellas all singled.
Tellas pitched 10.0 innings for Rushville, allowing three earned runs on 13 hits while striking out seven.
Shelbyville 10 Greensburg 1
Visiting Shelbyville jumped out to a 7-0 lead through three innings and cruised to a 10-1 victory at Greensburg.
Greensburg’s lone run came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Harper Adams hit a sacrifice fly to score Layla Murray to cut the deficit to 9-1.
At the plate for Greensburg, Adams and Murray both had a double. Tinley Klene added a single.
Alexis Dolan pitched 2.1 innings, allowing seven earned runs on three hits and 11 walks while striking out one. Murray pitched 4.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits and six walks while striking out three.
