UCLA gets commitment from four-star defensive lineman George Toia
Bob Chesney and the UCLA Bruins just keep loading up with Class of 2027 recruits. Rivals' Hayes Fawcett reported on Thursday UCLA earned a commitment from four-star defensive lineman George Toia.
If the last name Toia sounds familiar to you, it should, Toia’s older brother is Jay Toia, who was with UCLA from 2021-2024, before he was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2025 NFL Draft. If Jay Toia’s on-field production wasn't enough, Toia initially was a USC Trojan but entered the transfer portal just five months after arriving on campus to join the Bruins.
Jay Toia isn’t George’s only sibling to get drafted to the NFL, his brother Siaki Ika was drafted in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Unfortunately for UCLA, Ika played his college ball with LSU and then Baylor.
George Toia is quite the player in his own right, being ranked as the No. 11 defensive lineman in the country according to 247 Sports. The 6’1” 300 lbs Toia will wrap up his high school career this fall before moving west to join UCLA.

Toia is coming off of a very impressive junior season, where he posted seven sacks, 39 tackles and 12 tackles for losses for a 10-3 Bobcat team. Toia is scheduled to visit Penn State and Texas in June but UCLA is grateful to get the early commitment out of the big defensive tackle.

“Flashes sudden power and short-range burst,” 247 Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks said. “Lacks ideal length, but broad-bodied with a strong base.”
Following the commitment, UCLA’s 2027 class of recruits now rank as 16th best in the nation according to 247 Sports, with Toia being the fifth four-star prospect to sign on for the Bruins.
