What is Kyle Larson winless streak that began one year ago at NASCAR Charlotte race?

It has been a year since Kyle Larson tried to win two races − the Indy 500 and the NASCAR Charlotte race − in one day. Winning one race would be a big deal for the two-time NASCAR Cup champion today.

Larson's Cup Series winless streak has reached 35 races heading into the Coca-Cola 600 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 24 (5 p.m. CT, Amazon Prime).

His last win came on May 11, 2025, at Kansas. Despite the winless streak Larson did win the 2025 Cup championship, adding to his title in 2021.

"This series is tough," Larson said earlier in the 2026 season. "I know a lot of times we made winning maybe look easy. But it's not, and I've never felt that it was easy."

Instead of coming close to winning, Larson has regressed recently, posting three straight disastrous finishes. He was 40th at Talladega, 34th at Texas and 23rd at Watkins Glen. He finished 26th in the non-points All-Star Race at Dover on May 17.

Larson won three of the first 12 races in 2025 − Miami, Bristol and Kansas. That gave him 32 career Cup victories.

In the next points race after Kansas, Larson attempted the double − completing 1,100 total miles in the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day − for the second straight year.

It did not go well. After crashing on Lap 92 in Indianapolis, which ended Larson's hope of completing both races, he also crashed in the Coca-Cola 600.

His winless streak began with a 37th-place finish at Charlotte on May 25, 2025.

Larson is not attempting the double in 2026.

He rebounded the week after Charlotte with an eighth-place finish in the Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville.

Kyle Larson, crew chief Cliff Daniels determined to snap winless streak

Larson's crew chief, Cliff Daniels, has been a huge part of Larson's success, and the two, according to Larson, are in lockstep in their effort to snap the winless string.

"Cliff's the most competitive person I know, so I know it's killing him," Larson said. "But I feel like he's doing a good job of harnessing his emotions and keeping us all focused. I'm super happy with Cliff. I'm super happy with all of our team; it's just we haven't gotten the wins. I feel like we're still one of the strongest, if not the strongest, team out there, and that's just due to the leadership."
