Alijah Jones, a 2027 OL from New York, Pledges to Rutgers Football
Rutgers football has secured a significant addition to its roster as Alijah Jones, a rising offensive lineman from Rochester, New York, has officially committed to the Scarlet Knights. The announcement came today, marking the second commitment for Rutgers during the recruiting weekend that began on June 6th.
Jones, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 290 pounds, is known for his skills as an interior offensive lineman and hails from James Monroe High School. During a visit to Rutgers in April, he expressed admiration for the team's offensive line coach, Jim Turner, noting that Turner's "not soft" coaching style played a crucial role in his decision to join the program.
Despite interest from several prominent schools, including Arkansas, Florida, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, South Carolina, Syracuse, and Wake Forest, Jones ultimately chose Rutgers. He had previously planned visits to Pitt and South Carolina, but those are now likely to be canceled following his commitment.
Currently rated as a high 3-star prospect by Rivals and 247sports, Jones ranks as the 64th interior offensive lineman nationally and the 6th best player in New York according to the 247sports Composite rankings. He joins four other offensive line recruits in this class, which includes Charles Butler, Aaron Southard, Jackson Albright, and James Cocozzo.
