Bemidji Lumberjacks Eliminated from Section 8-4A Tournament
ELK RIVER — The Bemidji High School baseball team concluded its season on Tuesday in Elk River, facing a tough loss in the Section 8-4A tournament. The Lumberjacks were shut out by the Elk River Elks, falling 4-0 to pitcher Tommy Olson, who dominated the mound throughout the game.
After an initial defeat against Moorhead in the tournament's opening round, Bemidji had fought back to secure a victory over Brainerd last week. However, their journey ended abruptly against the Elks. Bemidji managed only three hits and drew two walks, while Olson struck out seven batters, showcasing an impressive performance.
Wyatt Tverstol took the hill for Bemidji, allowing five hits and four runs over five and 2/3 innings, while recording five strikeouts. The Elks quickly established a lead, scoring twice in the first two innings with RBI singles from Lincoln Trushenski and Bennet Masey. Masey later extended the Elks' advantage with a two-run homer in the sixth inning.
The final score reflected the Elks' control throughout the game: Elk River 4, Bemidji 0. This result marked the end of a challenging season for the Lumberjacks, who showed resilience despite the tough elimination.
For context, the Section 8-4A tournament features teams from across the region, highlighting the competitive nature of high school baseball in Minnesota.
