One thing that has stuck in my paw this offseason when it comes to the Washington Commanders is the lack of desire to improve the weapons around Jayden Daniels.
If a game were played today, it would be Terry McLaurin, then Luke McCaffrey, Treylon Burks, Dyami Brown, and rookie Antonio Williams.
Is that enough to compete for the division? Likely not.
In what is a brutal reality of Washington's offense ahead of 2026, Fox Sports' Ralph Vacchiano has ranked the supporting cast for Daniels at No. 28 out of 32 teams.
"There seems to be a belief in Washington that the return of a healthy Jayden Daniels will make everybody better," Vacchiano wrote. "They better be right, though, because the Commanders didn’t do a lot to improve his supporting cast in the offseason.
"The only weapon the Commanders added in the passing game was solid (and underrated) TE Chigoziem Okonkwo."

Can Daniels work with poor supporting cast?
Well, he's going to have to, isn't he?
We see the top quarterbacks in football elevate those around them, and there's no denying that Daniels will have to do the same for Washington to win in 2026.
The New York Giants have improved, so have the Dallas Cowboys, and the Philadelphia Eagles still boast a top roster, which makes the Commanders, for me, the fourth-best team in the division right now.
Daniels needed help, and Washington instead went all-in on the defense, which, when we get to December, we might look back on as a big mistake by the franchise.
