Dodgers' Dave Roberts Reveals Teoscar Hernández is Close to Returning from Injury
The Los Angeles Dodgers have faced a series of injury challenges this season, a common struggle for many teams as the year progresses. Despite these obstacles, they have maintained a competitive edge and are gradually regaining their strength.
A significant injury concern for the team was that of outfielder Teoscar Hernández, who left a game in late May visibly upset after injuring his left leg. “Teoscar Hernández was very upset in the Dodgers dugout after appearing to injure his left leg in tonight’s game. He slammed his helmet in frustration and Dave Roberts was shaking his head,” reported Dodgers Nation.
Following the incident, Hernández was diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain, with an anticipated recovery period of approximately one month. He mentioned, “Teoscar Hernández said his timeline to return is roughly a month. Since he only had a Grade 1 hamstring strain, he added that it could be sooner — but that he’s also not gonna rush his recovery, to make sure it doesn’t become a lingering problem this year,” according to Jack Harris of the California Post.
On Monday, Hernandez received positive news regarding his rehab progress. If his recovery continues as anticipated, manager Dave Roberts indicated that Hernández could start a rehab assignment as early as this weekend. “Dave Roberts adds that Teoscar Hernández could go out on a rehab assignment this weekend if his recovery keeps going well over the coming days,” Harris noted.
This development is crucial for the Dodgers, as Hernández's return would bolster their already powerful lineup with his offensive prowess and strong defensive skills in the outfield. Currently in the third year of his lucrative $66 million contract, Hernández's contributions are vital to the team's playoff ambitions. While he plans to approach his recovery carefully, indications suggest that his return is imminent.
