FSU Baseball’s Game Against Coastal Carolina Suspended Due to Weather
The Tallahassee Regional matchup between Florida State University and Coastal Carolina has been halted after inclement weather caused two delays that totaled over four hours. The Seminoles, ranked No. 10, were leading 2-1 when play was suspended in the sixth inning, following a home run by Cal Fisher in the fifth.
The first delay began in the fourth inning, with the Seminoles trailing 1-0 after a single from Trace Mazon drove in Walker Mitchell. Wes Mendes pitched effectively during his four innings, striking out eight batters on just 51 pitches before the first stoppage. Initially, the delay seemed brief, but as the tarp was removed, rain intensified, prompting a frantic response from the grounds crew and both teams to reseal the field.
After a lengthy effort to restore the playing surface, the game resumed for a short period. FSU quickly capitalized on the brief return to action, tying the game when Nathan Cmeyla scored Hunter Carns in the fourth inning. However, the excitement peaked when Fisher launched a 399-foot home run, marking his third of the season, just before the game was called again due to weather.
The suspended game will be completed on Sunday morning, with the exact restart time still to be announced. Following the conclusion of the FSU game, the winners' bracket contest between Northern Illinois and St. John's is set to take place.
This year's NCAA Baseball Tallahassee Regional features teams from various conferences, making it a competitive event for college baseball enthusiasts.
