Greenbrier girls’ soccer advances to Elite Eight with 4-3 overtime win

EVANS, GA (WJBF)- The number one seed Greenbrier Wolfpack are looking to advance to the Elite Eight. Home field advantage is on their side hosting the Johns Creek Gladiators.

In the second half, the Wolfpack holding on to a 3-2 lead.
Johns Creek’s Bayleigh Robinson had the ball and got tripped in the back inside the 18-yard box which yields a penalty kick.
So, it was just her and the Greenbrier goalie one on one and easily scores it in the back right of the net to make it a 3-3 tie game.

Now into overtime, there were two ten-minute halves. Aaliyah Silver had the ball and made a nice cross to Madelyn Heckathorn, and she has the light touch and finds the back of the net. Her teammates tackle her to the ground in celebration and now its 4-3 Wolfpack.

That would be the final score, as they survive and advance to next week.

“It was a really tough game. A lot of quick goals back and forth but when it got into overtime, I just knew that it was about fight. That’s what I told the girls, it’s all about fight, and who wants it more. At that moment, I just knew that everything it took to get that goal, had to give it all I got,” said Madelyn Heckathorn.

Up next, the Greenbrier girls are back at home next week taking on Lassiter.Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
