Last Former Charlotte Hornet to Secure NBA Championship Revealed
The 2026 NBA Finals are set to kick off Wednesday night, featuring a clash between the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks, reminiscent of their showdown in 1999. In that historic series, the Spurs triumphed over the Knicks in five games. Presently, the Spurs include two players with ties to the Charlotte Hornets, centers Bismack Biyombo and Mason Plumlee.
While the Hornets have never clinched a championship themselves, it prompts an interesting question: who is the last player from the franchise to earn an NBA title? The answer lies with Svi Mykhailiuk, a former sharpshooter from Kansas.
Mykhailiuk played for the Charlotte Hornets for a single season, during which he participated in 19 games. He achieved the highest scoring average of his career that year, with 10.8 points per game, along with contributions of 2.7 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.7 steals in about 22.5 minutes per game. Notably, he excelled in shooting, hitting over 40% of his three-point attempts.
The following season, Mykhailiuk signed with the Boston Celtics, where he appeared in 41 games and ultimately secured his NBA championship in 2024.
