Megan Gustafson Achieves Milestone with Stellar Performance Against Fever
On Friday, former Iowa women's basketball standout Megan Gustafson reached a significant milestone in her WNBA career by scoring her 800th point. However, she followed that achievement with an even more remarkable performance the very next day.
In a matchup against fellow Hawkeye alum Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, Gustafson showcased her skills as the Portland Fire emerged victorious with a score of 100-84. After a sluggish start, the Fire found their rhythm, and Gustafson played a pivotal role in the team's success.
In just 28 minutes on the court, Gustafson delivered an outstanding offensive display, finishing the game with 22 points while shooting a flawless 8-for-8 from the field. This performance made her only the 15th player in WNBA history to score over 20 points in a game without missing a single shot.
Gustafson’s 22 points mark her second-highest scoring effort in her professional career, trailing only the 24 points she scored while playing for Las Vegas in 2024. Currently, she is averaging a career-best 10.4 points per game this season, showcasing her growth as she settles into a new role with the Fire, her fifth team in eight seasons.
Looking ahead, Gustafson and the Fire will face the Golden State Valkyries on Tuesday night in Commissioner's Cup action, set to tip off at 9 p.m. CT, available on Fubo and the WNBA League Pass.
