The Western Conference Finals are level at 2-2, and Victor Wembanyama just made sure everyone knows why San Antonio belongs in this conversation, even though the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder features MVP finalist Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

With their backs against the wall in what amounted to a must-win Game 4, the Spurs fed Wembanyama early and often, and he delivered. The 22-year-old finished with 33 points on 11-of-22 shooting, adding eight rebounds, five assists, and three blocks in a dominant 103-82 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder at Frost Bank Center on Sunday night.

Wembanyama set the tone from the jump. He opened with a three-pointer, following it with a pair of alley-oop dunks, then capped a first half the Spurs controlled by pulling up from half-court and draining a buzzer-beater.

"I feel like with who we are, we need to start games like this," he said after the game. "I was just thinking shoot to score. I wasn't messing around."

The convincing win came with a historic footnote, however. Wemby is now averaging 30.3 points and 13.3 rebounds through four Western Conference Finals games. According to the NBA, only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Hakeem Olajuwon have previously averaged 30-plus points and 10-plus rebounds through their first four conference finals games.

HIs defense was also similarly effective. Through four games, the Spurs have outscored Oklahoma City by 50 points with Wembanyama on the floor, but are trailing by 46 points when he rests. His presence represents a 96-point swing for the team.

The series now returns to Oklahoma City for Game 5. The Thunder still hold home-court advantage and have a deeper roster. However, Wemby is keeping San Antonio competitive by matching historic benchmarks at 22 years old.
