After a heated match against Poland's Hubert Hurkacz on May 28, Tiafoe, who reached the quarterfinals at Roland Garros last year, expressed optimism following the earlier upset of Jannik Sinner. He is scheduled to play against Matteo Arnaldi on Monday, having split their previous two encounters—Arnaldi won at the 2022 Madrid Open, while Tiafoe claimed victory at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships after initially trailing.

Madison Keys, a semifinalist at the French Open in 2018, has battled through a challenging clay season due to illness. In her last match, she triumphed over Victoria Mboko in a nail-biting three-set match, finishing 6-3, 5-7, 7-5.
