Vest in three-way tie for second at West Virginia Amateur

Three golfers shot 4-under on the second day of the 107th West Virginia Amateur as the tournament took on bit of a new look.

Christian Brand had one of the three low rounds and sits atop the leaderboard at the halfway point. He followed Sunday’s 3-under for a two-day total of 7-under.

Brand leads three golfers who are four strokes behind him at 3-under, including Shady Spring graduate and current Marshall golfer Tanner Vest. The others are Jack Michael and Noah Mullens.

Joining Brand in shooting 4-under are Davey Jude and Argyle Downes. Their rounds vaulted them both more than 20 spots up the leaderboard and into the top ten. Jude is tied for sixth with Matthew Aman at 1-under and Downes is right behind them at even par.

In fifth is Clayton Thomas at 2-under.

Ben Palmer is in ninth at 1-over.

Beckley’s Chris Daniels, the first round leader, is tied for 10th with Mitch Hoffman at 2-over.

A total of 54 golfers survived the cut. Tuesday’s third round on the Meadows Course will begin with 8 a.m. tee times.
