Washington State Secures Commitment from Versatile Athlete Adrian Barnett for 2027 Class

PULLMAN — Washington State University is enhancing its upcoming recruiting class with the commitment of athlete Adrian Barnett, who shared the news on social media on Tuesday. This marks the seventh commitment for the Cougars' class of 2027.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 195 pounds, Barnett is a product of King's Academy in Sunnydale, California. Last season, he showcased his talents as both a wide receiver and defensive back, finishing with 36 receptions for 583 yards and nine touchdowns, alongside two interceptions and 34 tackles on the defensive side. His adaptability on the field has been a significant factor in his recruitment.

Barnett's impressive performance garnered attention from several programs, including future Pac-12 members San Diego State and Colorado State, as well as UNLV, New Mexico, and Florida International. He also received offers from Army and various FCS schools such as Montana and Sacramento State, along with Ivy League institutions like Penn, Princeton, Georgetown, Dartmouth, and Cornell.

This commitment follows closely on the heels of another, as the Cougars secured tight end Owen Yurosek on Monday. Yurosek, who also stands at 6-foot-4, is expected to add significant strength to WSU's roster when he joins the team next year.

With five commitments from California so far, the Cougars seem to be returning to a traditional recruiting stronghold. Under former coach Jimmy Rogers, the focus shifted to recruiting from the Midwest and Louisiana, which posed challenges due to the distance from Pullman. Current head coach Kirby Moore and his staff are refocusing their efforts back to California, a state that has historically produced standout players for the program.

WSU's current class of 2027 includes: Adrian Barnett, ATH, The King's Academy (Sunnydale, California); Owen Yurosek, TE, Bakersfield HS (Bakersfield, California); Ryan Harrington, 3-star QB, Anacortes HS (Washington); Josiah Rand, 3-star LB, Chaminade HS (West Hills, California); Marquez Wimberly, 3-star RB, Nazareth HS (Nazareth, Pennsylvania); Lopeti Malupo, 3-star DL, Archbishop Riordan (San Francisco); and EJ Coleman, 3-star ATH, Folsom HS (Folsom, California).
