Greater Lansing Softball Stars Recognized with All-State Honors

This spring, Saige Miller played a crucial role in helping the Fowler softball team achieve its best state tournament performance since 2014. The senior shortstop, who has signed to play at the University of Maryland, has been named to the all-state team by the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association for the third consecutive year, earning first-team all-state recognition in Division 4.

Miller was part of a notable group of five Fowler players celebrated for their achievements, as the team advanced to the state semifinals, marking the deepest tournament run in the region. Freshman Bristol Miller and Addison Spicer also received first-team honors, while Rachel Wirth and Selena Stump were recognized as honorable mentions.

Other local schools contributed to the all-state selections, with Grand Ledge, Owosso, Lansing Catholic, Laingsburg, Ithaca, and Dansville all having multiple players acknowledged. Grand Ledge's Jade Queen, an outfielder committed to Central Michigan, and catcher Amelia Bernard were named first-team all-state in Division 1. Owosso’s Ady Freeman, Audri Hmcharik, and Bella Harris were celebrated as first-team all-state selections in Division 2, with Danica Dwyer receiving honorable mention.

The Lansing Catholic twin sisters, Avery and Taylor Dunneback, both committed to Grand Valley State University, earned first-team all-state honors in Division 3. Ithaca's Maeli Akin was also named to the first team, while her teammate Madelyn Smith received honorable mention. Laingsburg saw Bella Latuszek and Harper Strouse join the honorable mentions in Division 3.

Dansville's pitching duo was recognized in Division 4 as Laci Neal earned first-team all-state honors, and Ryker Graf received honorable mention. Other area teams with all-state selections included Carson City-Crystal, Fulton, Portland St. Patrick, and Webberville, highlighting the impressive talent in the region.
