Illinois High School Soccer Postseason Advances to Super-Sectionals

The 2026 postseason for girls soccer in the Illinois High School Association has narrowed the field to 24 teams following the sectional championship matches held over the weekend. The tournament progresses to the super-sectionals starting Monday, with additional games scheduled for Tuesday. Teams that emerge victorious in this round will secure a spot in the IHSA State Finals, which will take place from June 4 to 6 at North Central College in Naperville.

In the Class 1A super-sectional bracket, results included Glen Carbon Father McGiveney defeating Litchfield 3-0 at Bethalto, while Elmhurst Timothy Christian edged out Lisle 2-1 at River Forest. Additionally, Johnsburg dominated Rockford Christian with a score of 9-0 at Woodstock Marian. A highly anticipated match between Pleasant Plains and Rock Island Alleman is set for Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Williamsville.

Turning to Class 2A, Lemont High School is set to face Geneva on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Kankakee. Other notable matches include Crystal Lake Central competing against Lake Forest at Lake Zurich on Monday at 6 p.m., and Elmwood Park taking on Wheaton St. Francis at Hinsdale South on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Meanwhile, Morton will play against Waterloo at Chatham Glenwood on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

For Class 3A, Hinsdale Central will meet Winnetka New Trier on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at River Forest. In other results, Edwardsville secured a narrow victory over New Lenox Lincoln-Way Central with a score of 1-0 in Bloomington. Upcoming matches include Naperville Central versus Wheaton Warrenville South at St. Charles North and Gurnee Warren against Palatine Fremd at Barrington, both scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m.
