Paige Bueckers Lightheartedly Apologizes to Fans Following Recent Victory
In a season marked by growth and learning, Dallas Wings All-Star guard Paige Bueckers has been a standout performer, helping the team to a promising start in 2026. Despite her impressive contributions, the Wings faced difficulties last season, finishing with the league's lowest record of 10-34. However, they are already on track to surpass that total with a current record of 6-3.
On Monday night, the Wings battled the Seattle Storm in a WNBA Commissioner’s Cup matchup, emerging victorious with a score of 79-56. While the win brought joy to the home crowd, Bueckers acknowledged that the game wasn’t particularly easy on the eyes. "We want to continue to build and learn, through wins, through losses," she stated after the game. "It’s a really long season — 44 games — so we don’t want to think […] we’re entitled to anything, and we don’t want to get complacent. So, we want to continue to keep building. Sometimes, you gotta win ugly, like tonight."
In a humorous moment, Bueckers added, "I feel bad for the people who are watching. They should get all their money back." She noted that while she was uncertain about the field goal percentages for both teams, the performance was less than stellar, with Seattle shooting just 33% and the Wings slightly better at 36%. Bueckers herself led the Wings with 10 points, along with nine rebounds and seven assists.
Looking ahead, the Wings are eager to secure their fourth consecutive win, a feat they haven’t accomplished since 2023, as they prepare to face the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday, June 5.
